Oakland Athletics Sign Former Mets Reliever Of 10 Seasons

That didn't take long.

One day after being released by the Arizona Diamondbacks, reliever Jeurys Familia has signed on with the Oakland Athletics.

The 33-year-old pitcher has 125 career saves over his 11 seasons in the majors, however, he had a brutal 2022 season with the Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies, compiling a 6.09 ERA across 44.1 innings and 48 appearances.

He now joins an A's bullpen that can use all the help they can get, giving him a good shot at making the club's Opening Day roster.

Over his 11-year career, Familia holds a respectable 3.51 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, with 568 strikeouts over 543 innings and 547 appearances. As mentioned, he has converted 125 career saves, but just one since the 2018 season.

Familia spent half a season with the Athletics back in 2018, posting a 3.45 ERA over 30 appearances.
