New York Yankees Rumors: Infielder Linked to Texas Rangers

The New York Yankees have made it known that they are open to trading veteran infielder Josh Donaldson. Now, at least one team is considering the idea of making a push for him, as the Texas Rangers reportedly have him on their radar.

The Rangers are looking for an upgrade at the third base position, and Donaldson has the potential to provide them with just that. Although Josh Jung is viewed as a top prospect, it is hard to determine if he is ready for full-time work. As a result, bringing in an experienced veteran like Donaldson for the short term does make sense for the Rangers.

Donaldson is coming off of a rough 2022 season with the Yankees, however, as he had just 15 home runs and a low .222 batting average in 132 games. However, when noting that he can be a very effective power hitter while performing at his best, it could be a gamble worth taking for the Rangers. Alas, we will need to wait and see if their interest in Donaldson results in him heading to Texas from here.
