New York Mets Rumors: Cincinnati Reds Pitcher On Team's Radar
The Cincinnati Reds are in a major rebuild, and they are reportedly open to hearing offers for Alexis Diaz because of it. Although the closer is coming off of an excellent rookie season, the Reds are willing to move him because he has a lot of trade value, and they don’t need a star closer when noting that they are rebuilding.
Now, a specific frontrunner has emerged in the Diaz sweepstakes, as the New York Mets are very interested in acquiring the young reliever. This is not surprising in the slightest, as they lost their star closer, Edwin Diaz, for the entirety of this season. Therefore, replacing Diaz with another star Diaz seems like a wise idea.
Diaz (Alexis) also is under team control for quite some time, so he would be far more than a rental for the Mets. Although the Mets would need to give up a good amount to get this move done, it certainly would be worth it, as it would significantly improve their bullpen. Thus, let’s see if these two clubs strike a deal from here.
