Nationals Outfielder Carted Off Field With Leg Injury

Washington Nationals outfielder Victor Robles collided with the outfield wall during a Grapefruit League game against the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday.

After trying to walk it off, he was eventually carted off the field with a left knee contusion.

However, there is some positive news, as Nationals manager Dave Martinez expressed optimism that Robles could return to exhibition action before the end of the week.

If he does need to miss time, the Nationals have options to fill in, including Lane Thomas in center field and Alex Call and Stone Garrett in the outfield.

The 25-year-old former top prospect has yet to breakout offensively at the major league level, however, his strong defensive play has kept him in the starting lineup.

Last season, Robles slashed .224/.273/.311, with six home runs, 33 RBIs, 15 stolen bases and 42 runs scored over 132 games played. Photo Credit:  Mike Watters-USA TODAY Sports
