Injury Update On New York Yankees Talented Reliever

New York Yankees reliever Scott Effross, who underwent Tommy John surgery last October, has started a throwing program at the team's spring training complex in Florida.

According to Greg Joyce of the New York Post, Effross is at the beginning stages of a long road back to recovery.

While there is an outside chance he could return to the field late in the 2023 season, it is more likely that he will be held out until 2024.

The Yankees acquired Effross from the Chicago Cubs at last year's trade deadline in exchange for top pitching prospect Hayden Wesneski.

The 29-year-old Effross went on to post a 2.13 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, with 12 strikeouts over 12.2 innings and 13 appearances.

The right-handed pitcher has just two major-league seasons under his belt after he was drafted in the 15th-round by the Cubs in the 2015 MLB Draft
