Detroit Tigers Pitcher Goes Unclaimed On Waivers; Sent Outright

The Detroit Tigers have made a recent roster change by outrighting right-handed pitcher Rony Garcia to their Triple-A affiliate, the Toledo Mud Hens.

Garcia was recently designated for assignment and went unclaimed on waivers.

The 25-year-old had recently transitioned to a full-time bullpen role but struggled in his last game, giving up five runs in five innings. By removing him from the 40-man roster, the Tigers have made room for Trey Wingenter and Chasen Shreve to be added to the team.

Despite being outrighted, Garcia will remain with the organization and continue pitching in relief for the Toledo Mud Hens.

For his major-league career, Garcia holds a 5.35 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, with 64 strikeouts over 75.2 innings and 33 appearances and 10 starts. Photo Credit:  Sergio Estrada-USA TODAY Sports
