Colorado Rockies Rumors: Closer Expected to be Traded

The Colorado Rockies are expected to be among the league's worst teams this season. As a result of this, there is a belief that the Rockies will shop Daniel Bard as we get closer to the deadline.

Although Bard and the Rockies agreed upon a two-year extension, his trade value is currently at its highest after a strong 2022 season. Due to this and the Rockies having extremely low expectations for this season, the best course of action seems to be moving Bard rather than keeping him. After all, what's the point of having a high-impact closer if you're at the bottom of the standings?

Playoff teams are always looking to improve their bullpen, so there is no question that Bard would land the Rockies a very good return in a hypothetical trade. As a result of this, we should not be surprised if they elect to move him in the coming months.

In 57 appearances last season, Bard had a 6-4 record, 1.79 ERA, and 34 saves.
