Cincinnati Reds Sign Former Second-Round Pick Catcher


Headed to Cincinnati.

The Cincinnati Reds have signed catcher Andy Yerzy to a minor-league contract.

Yerzy is a second-round pick by the Toronto Blue Jays out of a high school in the Toronto area.

Last season, with the Texas Rangers Double-A affiliate, Yerzy posted a .220/.338/.402 triple-slash line, with 12 home runs, 38 RBIs, one stolen base and 45 runs scored over 86 games.

He has yet to make his major-league debut.

For his minor-league career, the 24-year-old holds a .233/.330/.396 slash line, 61 home runs, 233 RBIs, nine stolen bases and 202 runs scored across 438 games played.
