Toronto Blue Jays Sign Reliever

The Toronto Blue Jays have added some bullpen depth coming into spring training, signing four-year major league veteran reliever Luke Bard.

It's a minor league deal for Bard with an invite to major league Spring Training.

The 32-year-old spent last season split between the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays, posting a total of 15 big league innings with a 1.80 ERA. He only allowed seven hits and three earned runs, with an 0.93 WHIP.

Bard had spent parts of three previous seasons in the majors with the Los Angeles Angels, his biggest contributions coming in 2019 when he threw 49 innings with a 4.78 ERA and a 40:13 K/BB ratio.

He missed the 2021 season recovering from hip surgery.

He'll be another piece in camp to compete for a relief job, as the Jays try to firm up the one still possibly questionable part of their roster.
