Toronto Blue Jays Hire Former Astros GM; Won World Series In 2022

Huge news for the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Toronto Blue Jays have announced the hiring of former Houston Astros general manager James Click as their new Vice President of Baseball Strategy.

Click will work closely with Blue Jays' GM Ross Atkins and other department heads to develop strategic plans, make decisions, and evaluate performances across both professional and amateur levels. The team expects him to bring his wealth of experience in leading successful franchises, including his role in leading the Astros to their 2022 World Series Championship.

Click began his career with the Tampa Bay Rays as an intern in 2005 and was eventually promoted to Vice President of Baseball Operations in 2017. He spent three seasons as general manager of the Astros (2020-22), leading them to back-to-back pennants and a Game 7 of the ALCS in 2020 after being down 3-0 to the Tampa Bay Rays.

In 2022, the Astros won 106 games, the second-highest total in franchise history, and defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in six games to win the World Series.

However, after Click's contract expired following the 2022 season, he rejected a one-year contract offer from the Astros, and the team announced that they would move on without him.
