The Rays have signed catcher Jeffry Parra to a minor-league contract.

Parra has spent the last two seasons in the Independent Frontier League, posting a strong .303/.395/.583 triple-slash line, with 47 home runs, 156 RBIs, three stolen bases and 124 runs scored over 178 games played.

The twenty-five-year-old spent the first six seasons of his career in the San Francisco Giants' minor-league system, recording an underwhelming .187/.286/.310, with 13 home runs, 50 RBIs, two stolen bases and 47 runs scored over 167 games in the minors.

Parra will now work towards finally making his major-league debut in the Rays' organization.
