Philadelphia Phillies Top Prospect Unveils New Pitch This Spring

He's started throwing a new pitch this spring.

Philadelphia Phillies top prospect Andrew Painter kicked off spring training by telling reporters that he's started throwing a brand new pitch, a cutter, increasing his repertoire to an impressive five-pitch mix.

Painter is competing this spring with Bailey Falter for the final spot in the Phillies' Opening Day rotation, which is pretty insane, considering he's just 19 years old.

The 6-foot-7, 215 pounds teenager is one of the best pitching prospects in all of baseball and could force himself onto the Phillies' Opening Day roster with a strong showing this spring.

He posted a stellar 1.56 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, and 155 strikeouts over 103.2 innings of work this past season, split between three minor-league levels.
