Philadelphia Phillies Sign Starting Pitcher

The Philadelphia Phillies add a left-handed arm.

The Phillies have signed starter Kyle Hart to a minor-league contract.

Hart made four appearances with the Boston Red Sox during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, allowing a brutal 19 earned runs over 11 innings of work.

He has spent the first seven years of his career in the Red Sox' system, compiling a solid 3.60 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, with 532 strikeouts over 612.1 innings in the minor leagues. He's made 101 starts, 23 relief appearances and holds a 38-41 record.

Hart is a former 19th-round pick by the Red Sox in the 2016 MLB Draft.

He'll give the Phillies some extra upper-level relief depth.
