New York Yankees Sign Left-Handed Pitcher

An intriguing signing by the New York Yankees.

The Yankees have signed pitcher Lisandro Santos to a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training.

Santos has spent the first six seasons of his minor-league career in the Atlanta Braves organization. He can get up to 99 MPH on his fastball and averaged an impressive 13.91 K/9 last season between Single-A and Double-A.

The twenty-four-year-old climbed to Double-A for the first time in his career last season, but recorded an underwhelming 4.09 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and 102 strikeouts over 66 innings of work. He made four starts, 33 relief appearances, converted two saves and held a 4-5 record.

For his minor-league career, Santos holds a solid 3.38 ERA with 304 strikeouts across 256 innings.

He adds minor-league bullpen depth for the Yankees.
