New York Yankees Sign Infielder; Won MILB Gold Glove Last Season

Bringing him back.

The New York Yankees have re-signed infielder Jesus Bastidas to a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training.

Bastidas reached minor-league free agency this offseason, but ultimately decided that his best option was to return to the Yankees' organization.

Bastidas spent the entirety of the 2022 season with Double-A Somerset, slashing .240/.323/.750, with 18 home runs, 55 RBIs, 11 stolen bases and 56 runs scored over 111 games.

He is also an excellent defender, earning a MILB Gold Glove award at the second base position.

For his minor-league career, the twenty-four-year-old holds a .237/.318/.352 triple-slash line, with 29 home runs, 143 RBIs, 36 stolen bases and 183 runs scored across 341 games.

He adds some versatile depth for the Yankees in the minors and will continue to develop in their system. Bastidas has the ability to play second base, third base and shortstop.
