New York Yankees Sign Eight-Year Veteran Infielder


Looking to crack the Opening Day roster.

The New York Yankees have signed infielder Wilmer Difo to a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training.

Difo will make $1.2 million if he makes the major league roster.

Difo spent the majority of he 2022 season with Triple-A Reno, the Arizona Diamondbacks affiliate, slashing a decent .269/.315/.711 line, with seven home runs, 43 RBIs, four stolen bases and 33 runs scored over 283 at-bats.

Over his eight-year career, the thirty-year-old holds a .250/.311/.353 triple-slash line, with 19 home runs, 103 RBIs, 24 stolen bases and 158 runs scored across 492 games played. 

Difo has spent six seasons with the Washington Nationals and one each with the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Diamondbacks.

He adds some infield depth for the Yankees.
