MLB Rumors: Chicago Cubs Looking To Add One More Veteran Reliever

The Chicago Cubs are looking to add one more veteran arm to their bullpen before Opening Day.

Well, they're in luck, as there are still plenty of quality arms on the open market.

With Andrew Chafin, Matt Moore, Zack Britton, Will Smith, Brad Hand, and Michael Fulmer all still available, the Cubs should be able to add a good arm at a reasonable cost.

Andrew Chafin is perhaps the most coveted reliever still on the market. The thirty-two-year-old Chafin is coming off a fantastic past couple of seasons, which saw him record a sparkling 2.29 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 131 strikeouts. He would be a great addition.

Matt Moore is another very intriguing arm, who enjoyed a huge breakout season last year and found success mixing up his pitches, leading to a strong 27.3% strikeout rate. In total, he posted a shining 1.95 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 83 strikeouts over 74 innings of work last season with the Texas Rangers. He made 64 relief appearances, finished 18 games and held a 5-2 record.

Zack Britton could be another underrated addition. Now that he appears fully healthy, it would be very interesting to see if the Cubs could get back even a bit of the former dominant reliever that Britton used to be with the Baltimore Orioles.

The Cubs are ready to make a move, we just have to wait and see who it is they snag.
