Former Top Prospect Could Be Tigers Leadoff Hitter For 2023 Season

He made his major league debut last season.

According to Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press, outfielder Riley Greene could hit leadoff for the Detroit Tigers this upcoming season.

Greene is not locked into the role by any means yet, as the Tigers have other options they want to consider in spring training as well, but he fits the role well.

The twenty-two year made his major league debut last season, and showed flashes of his potential, finishing with a respectable .253/.321/.362 triple-slash line, five home runs, 42 RBIs, one stolen base and 46 runs scored over 93 games.

Greene was considered one of the best prospects in all of baseball heading into the 2023 season.

His minor-league career numbers would back that up, as Greene holds a .291/.372/.483 triple-slash line, 30 home runs, 120 RBIs, 25 stolen bases and 139 runs scored over 198 games in the minors.

The potential is there, and with a likely full season in the majors ahead of him, Greene should continue to develop into a capable player and, hopefully, one day, the player he was projected to become.
