Cincinnati Reds Sign Pitcher; Holds 2.91 ERA In Minor-League Career


Headed to Ohio.

The Cincinnati Reds have signed pitcher Tommy Eveld to a minor-league contract.

Eveld is still looking to make his major-league debut, however, over 39.1 innings last season with Triple-A Jacksonville, the Miami Marlins affiliate, he posted a strong 2.97 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, with 37 strikeouts. He made one start, 25 relief appearances, converted one save and held a 1-2 record.

The twenty-nine-year-old is a former ninth-round pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2016 MLB Draft.

For his minor-league career, Eveld actually holds an impressive 2.91 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, with 307 strikeouts across 266.1 innings of work.

With the state of the Reds' pitching staff, Eveld could finally make his major-league debut this season.
