Cincinnati Reds Sign Former First-Round Pick Outfielder

An interesting addition by the Cincinnati Reds.

The Reds have signed outfielder Nick Plummer to a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training.

Plummer signed on with the New York Mets last season and got into 14 games, going 4-for-29 at the plate with two home runs and six RBIs. He spent the rest of the season in the Mets' minor-league system, recording a .238/.330/.709 triple-slash line, with seven home runs, 41 RBIs, eight stolen bases and 29 runs scored over 235 at-bats.

The twenty-six-year-old has a good shot at making the Reds' Opening Day roster this spring, especially with Nick Senzel still recovering from toe surgery.

Plummer is a former first-round pick by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2015 MLB Draft.
