Chicago Cubs Set Opening Day Starter

Set to begin the season as the Chicago Cubs No. 1 starter.

With Kyle Hendricks likely opening the season on the injured list, Marcus Stroman will begin the season as the Cubs' No. 1 starter.

Even if Hendricks was healthy, there's a good chance Stroman would be the Cubs Opening Day starter anyways.

The Cubs also added Jameson Taillon this offseason, who has been finding success with his new pitch grip this spring, however, he'll likely slot in as the team's No. 2 starter.

Stroman posted a fantastic 2.14 ERA in his final seven starts to finish his year with a 3.50 ERA over 25 starts along with a 6-7 record.

The Cubs went a poor 9-16 when the thirty-one-year-old started, but that would appear more to do with the team than Stroman's performances.

He is entering his ninth major league season.
