Boston Red Sox Sign Pitcher


Joining the Boston Red Sox.

The Red Sox have signed pitcher Joe Jones to a minor-league contract.

Jones spent some of the 2021 season with the Arizona Diamondbacks' minor league system before joining the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks of the independent American Association. He posted a 3.72 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, and 66 strikeouts over 55.2 innings of work with the Redhawks last season.

For his minor-league career, the twenty-seven-year-old holds a 5.96 ERA, 1.72 WHIP, and 25 strikeouts across 22.2. innings. He's made 23 relief appearances, converted seven saves and holds an 0-2 record.

Jones will give the Red Sox some additional organizational pitching depth.
