Atlanta Braves Talented Young Starter Won't Play In World Baseball Classic

He will not play for in the upcoming World Baseball Classic.

Atlanta Braves' young starter Mike Soroka will not play for Team Canada in the upcoming World Baseball Classic as he focuses on competing for the fifth spot in the Braves rotation.

Soroka has not made a major-league appearance since the 2020 season due to a pair of Achilles tears and, more recently, elbow soreness.

The good news, however, is the twenty-five-year-old is coming into spring training without any physical limitations.

Over his young three-year career, Soroka holds a strong 2.86 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 171 strikeouts over 214 innings and 37 starts. He was an All-Star, finished sixth in Cy-Young voting, and second in Rookie-of-the-Year voting in his rookie season.

He'll be competing against Ian Anderson for the fifth spot in the rotation.
