Washington Nationals Release Pitcher

Done with the Washington Nationals.

The Nationals have released pitcher A.J. Candelario.

Candelario signed on with the Nationals last May after being cut loose by the Miami Marlins.

He then posted an underwhelming 5.20 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, and 35 strikeouts over 27.2 innings of work in the lower minors last season.

For his minor-league career, the twenty-five-year-old holds a 5.20 ERA.

He'll now join free agency where he certainly won't get more than a minor-league deal.
