Recently Acquired Orioles Infielder Goes Unclaimed On Waivers; Sent Outright

This comes as a bit of a surprise.

Baltimore Orioles utility player Ryan O'Hearn went unclaimed on waivers and has been sent outright to Triple-A Norfolk.

The Orioles will take the added depth after they designated him for assignment last week. O'Hearn will make $1.4 million in the minors this season and will definitely get at least some playing time in the majors at some point this year.

The Orioles acquired O'Hearn from the Kansas City Royals earlier this month in exchange for cash.

The twenty-nine-year-old slashed .239/.290/.611, with one home run, 16 RBIs and 14 runs scored across 67 games last season in the majors. He has some power, indicated by his 116 home runs during his minor league career. The Orioles will try to help him tap into that again.
