Oakland Athletics Sign Free Agent Slugger

Headed to Oakland.

The Oakland Athletics have signed free agent first baseman Jesus Aguilar to a one-year, $3 million contract.

Aguilar spent the majority of last season with the Miami Marlins before joining the Baltimore Orioles late in the year. Overall, he slashed .235/.281/.379, with 16 home runs, 51 RBIs and 39 runs scored over 129 total games.

The thirty-two-year-old veteran slugger gives the A's some nice depth at first base and designated hitter heading into the 2023 season. Obviously, Oakland won't be contenders this season, so they're hoping they'll be able to deal Aguilar at the trade deadline in exchange for a prospect or some draft picks.

Aguilar has a career 109 home runs over 759 games in the MLB.

It's a fine, low-risk, signing by the organization.
