NL East Team In Talks With Veteran Yuli Gurriel

Set for another meeting.

According to Craig Mish of SportsGrid, the Miami Marlins have had conversations with free-agent first baseman Yuli Gurriel. They are reportedly set for another meeting on Tuesday.

If the two sides do end up reaching an agreement, Gurriel would likely split time at first base with Garrett Cooper.

The thirty-eight-year-old, who was forced out of the World Series with a knee injury, slashed .242/.288/.360, with eight home runs, 53 RBIs, eight stolen bases and 53 runs scored over 146 games with the Houston Astros this past season.

Gurriel showed some signs of decline last season, posting the worst triple-slash line of his seven-year career.

Still, the veteran first baseman is a reliable source of contact and can provide some solid depth to the team that signs him.
