New York Mets Sign Starting Pitcher

Joining the New York Mets.

The Mets have signed starter Humberto Mejia to a minor-league contract.

The twenty-five-year-old has not appeared in a major-league game since the 2021 season, with the Arizona Diamondbacks, where he posted an ugly 7.25 ERA, 1.84 WHIP, and 20 strikeouts over 22.1 innings and five starts.

For his minor-league career, Mejia holds a strong 3.39 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 374 strikeouts over 396 innings and 64 starts.

He adds some quality organizational pitching depth to the Mets. There's a chance, with a strong showing in the minors, that Mejia finds himself in the majors sometime this season.
