MLB Rumors: San Diego Padres Looking to Add Mets Pitcher

The New York Mets are looking to trade away a pitcher, as they currently have a surplus of starters due to their offseason of spending. They reportedly are listening to offers for David Peterson because of this, and it appears that his market is starting to heat up. The San Diego Padres are reportedly one of the teams looking to acquire the starter at this time.

The Padres are in a position to add to their rotation, so bringing in a picture like Peterson for the bottom half of it does not sound like a bad idea. In fact, he could provide it with a nice boost as they gear up for the 2023 campaign. While pitching at his best, he certainly can be a reliable starter, so it makes sense that the Padres are at least considering the prospect of bringing him in.

Alas, we will have to wait and see if the Mets and Padres end up striking a deal centering around Peterson from here. On paper, it seems like there could be a decent match here.
