MLB Rumors: Red Sox Rival A Suitor For Michael Wacha

After an 11-2 season with the Boston Red Sox, along with a 3.32 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 23 starts, Michael Wacha is now the top remaining starter on the free agent market. The Baltimore Orioles, according to a report, are continuing their search for a No. 1, 2 or 3 for their rotation, and continue to have their eyes on Wacha.

Orioles beat writer Roch Kubatko says that the O's interest in the 31-year-old righty has been ongoing throughout the offseason.

Baltimore, which was expected to spend some money on improving its pitching staff this winter, has done very little to add to their rotation, save for the signing of veteran Kyle Gibson. He of the 5.05 ERA last season with the Philadelphia Phillies, and an ERA over 5.00 in five of his 10 seasons in the majors.

As for Wacha, he's had a bit of trouble staying completely healthy in recent years. In 2022, he went on the injured list with an intercostal irritation in May, and with right shoulder inflammation in mid-July. He has a career 74-50 mark, with a 4.05 ERA and 1.30 WHIP, with 8 K/9.
