MLB Rumors: Houston Astros to Shop Catcher

The Houston Astros are looking to make an addition or two before the start of the season. Due to this, catcher/first baseman Yainer Diaz is now being viewed as a potential trade candidate from the Astros.

ESPN's David Schoenfeld wrote that Diaz could be used to bring in a high-impact outfielder. Furthermore, he noted that the Astros could move him because he is currently blocked by players like Jose Abreu, Michael Brantley, and Yordan Alvarez on the depth chart.

Nevertheless, teams looking to take a chance on the promising catcher/first baseman should consider doing business with the Astros. He has the potential to be a solid power hitter in the majors, so we will need to see if a rebuilding team takes a chance on him from here.
