Los Angeles Angels Sign 6-Foot-7 First Baseman

Headed to California.

The Los Angeles Angels have signed first baseman Taylor Jones to a minor-league contract.

Jones appeared in one game with the Houston Astros last season before he was claimed off waivers by the San Francisco Giants in September.

He then spent the rest of the season in the minors, slashing .262/.370/.453, with 12 home runs, 48 RBIs and 57 runs scored over 298 at-bats.

The twenty-nine-year-old has appeared in 43 career games in the majors, all with the Astros, holding an underwhelming .234/.260/.395 triple-slash line, with three home runs, 19 RBIs and 14 runs scored.

The 6-foot-7, 230-pound slugger will function as organizational first base depth for the Angels.
