Cincinnati Reds Sign Pitcher

Bringing him back.

The Cincinnati Reds have signed pitcher Derek Law to a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training.

Law spent a small amount of time last season with the Detroit Tigers before joining the Reds.

Overall the thirty-two-year-old posted a 4.12 ERA, 1.58 WHIP, and 17 strikeouts over 19.2 innings of work last season. He fared much better in the minors, however, recording a strong 2.87 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, with 47 strikeouts across 47 innings. He made 39 relief appearances, converted 15 saves and held a 1-3 record.

Law will compete for a spot this spring on the team's Opening Day roster. It's a decent addition for the Reds and, at worst, he'll add some solid organizational depth.
