Washington Nationals Sign Infielder

The Washington Nationals have signed Nick Shumpert to a minor league contract.

Shumpert spent this past season with Double-A Cleburne, .265 where he had eight home runs, 50 RBIs, and a .265 batting average. Overall, it was not a bad year for the 26-year-old, and now he will be aiming to keep this kind of play up in 2023.

Following being signed, Shumpert has been assigned to Double-A Harrisburg. If he impresses while with the minor league squad, it should open the door for him to receive time in Triple-A at least. Keep in mind, he does offer versatility, as he can play shortstop, third base, and center field.
