Twins Sign First Baseman

A nice Christmas present for him.

The Minnesota Twins have signed first baseman Nolan Machibroda to a minor league contract.

Machibroda went undrafted last year out of Cumberland University, an NAIA school in Tennessee, and went on to play for the Weyburn Beavers of the Western Canadian League, an independent collegiate summer baseball league.

For his college career, the twenty-three-year-old slashed a strong .346/.460/.648, with 28 home runs, 131 RBIs, nine stolen bases and 92 runs scored across 116 games.

Machibroda, a Canadian native out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, will get a chance with the Twins in affiliated ball this season.
