Texas Rangers Designate Pitcher for Assignment

The Texas Rangers have designated A.J. Alexy for assignment. As a result, he is officially off of their 40-man roster.

Alexy was one of the pieces that the Rangers acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Yu Darvish trade back in 2017. Therefore, his removal from the 40-man roster is pretty notable.

Alexy has made appearances in each of the last two seasons for the Rangers. Over that span, he pitched in nine games, where he had a 4-2 record and a 6.30 ERA. We will have to wait and see if another team is open to the prospect of claiming him off of waivers from here. Alas, time will tell what occurs on that front.
