MLB Rumors: Top 3 Trade Destinations For Kolten Wong

The Milwaukee Brewers would like to stay competitive... But they also would like to stay cost-conscious. For that reason, they already traded slugger Hunter Renfroe, and now the word is out that second baseman Kolten Wong is on the trade block.

The Brewers just picked up his $10M option a few weeks back, but it was likely with the idea of trading him. In addition, they want to make room for rookie Brice Turang.

According to MLB Insider Ken Rosenthal, three teams are at the top of the list of potential trade partners for the Brewers.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Rosenthal says his sources tell him that the Dodgers like Wong, a former two-time Gold Glove winner whose defense dropped off last season. But at the plate, he mashed 15 home runs, a career-high.

San Francisco Giants

Wong would provide a solid left-handed bat for the Giants' infield, where they could really use some offensive punch. Wong had an OPS+ of 118 (18% better than the average player). Acquiring Wong would be a secondary move, however, as it would be for the Dodgers, with each team hoping to secure one of the big-name shortstops in free agency.

Seattle Mariners

The Mariners have been linked to Wong already this offseason.

Thing is, he might only be a Plan B for the Mariners, who are thought to be chasing one of the big-name free agent shortstops as well.
