MLB Rumors: Boston Red Sox Making Big Push for Star Shortstop

Even before the Boston Red Sox lost star shortstop Xander Bogaerts to the San Diego Padres, they were linked to Dansby Swanson. Yet, now that they messed up with negotiations with their long-term star, their efforts to sign Swanson are expected to increase.

Swanson would be a cheaper, yet still excellent option for Boston. The 28-year-old is coming off of an All-Star campaign that saw him hit 25 home runs, record 96 RBIs, and sport a .277 batting average. Overall, this is exactly the kind of replacement that Boston should be making. Furthermore, with Bogaerts officially off the table, they have an immense amount of money to work with.

If Boston wants to turn things around in 2023, they need to bring in another big-name player. Thus, expect to see Swanson talks heat up.
