Former Chicago White Sox Outfielder Signs Overseas

Earlier this offseason, Mark Payton signed a minor league deal with the Chicago White Sox. Yet, he has now had a change of heart and has signed a one-year deal with the Seibu Lions in Japan.

Payton appeared in eight games for the White Sox last season, where he had zero home runs, one RBI, and a .143 batting average. Needless to say, it was an underwhelming season for him, but now he will be aiming to bounce back with this move to Japan.

If Payton performs well overseas, it could open the door to a major league team willing to take a chance on him next offseason. Alas, we will have to wait and see what happens on that front from here.
