Chicago Cubs Designate Catcher for Assignment

The Chicago Cubs have designated P.J. Higgins for assignment.

The Cubs needed to free up a roster spot to make the Tucker Barnhart signing official, and they have done just that with this Higgin DFA. Now, teams around the league can either claim him off of waivers or try to acquire him from Chicago via trade.

Higgins appeared in 74 games this past season with the Cubs, where he had six home runs, 30 RBIs, and a .229 batting average.
