3 Top Under The Radar Starting Pitchers Still Available In Free Agency

While the likes of Carlos Rodon, Chris Bassitt, and Nathan Eovaldi dominate the talk of top free agent pitchers still available, there are a number of lower-tier starters still available; many of them who can slot into the No. 3 or 4 spot in teams' rotations.

Let's have a look at three "under the radar" starters still up for grabs.

Ross Stripling

In his contract year in 2022, the 33-year-old picked a great time to emerge as a consistent, solid starter in the Toronto Blue Jays' rotation. He filled in more than admirably as the No. 3 man on the Jays staff, after injuries (Hyun Jin Ryu) and poor performance (Jose Berrios) left the team in need of someone to step up big-time.

Stripling finished at 10-4 with a career-best 3.01 ERA along with a 111:20 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He should be on plenty of teams' radars as a solid mid-rotation add.

Michael Wacha

He shouldn't be "under the radar" after his strong 2022 campaign. The 31-year-old had one of the best seasons of his 10-year career, posting an 11-2 record with the Boston Red Sox, with a 3.32 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in 127.1 innings.

Corey Kluber

He won't be winning any more Cy Young awards (he had two with Cleveland, in 2014 and 2017), but the 36-year-old can still be a viable option for many teams. He went 10-10 with a 4.34 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2022, with a 139:21 K/BB ratio. He's been through the postseason wars, and can definitely help a contender toward the back end of a rotation.
