New York Mets Pitcher Becomes Free Agent

Mychal Givens' time with the New York Mets is likely over, as the club has rejected their mutual option with the reliever.

Givens was a deadline acquisition made by the Mets, and things did not go too well for him following the move. After recording a 2.66 ERA in 40 appearances with the Chicago Cubs, he had a much higher 4.79 ERA in 19 appearances for the Mets. Therefore, it may be best for both parties to move on.

Givens is a veteran who will surely get interest around the league. In 419 career games, he has a 32-23 record to go along with a 3.40 ERA. Be on the lookout for teams in need of bullpen help to give him a call.
