MLB Rumors: Justin Verlander to New York Mets Heating Up

The New York Mets have been linked to Justin Verlander since the offseason officially began, but now things appear to be heating up on that front. According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, Verlander has become a "prominent possibility" for the Mets.

Puma noted that the Mets are still hoping to re-sign Jacob deGrom, they also have Verlander on their radar big time. It ultimately makes sense, as the Mets have World Series aspirations, and Verlander is coming off of a Cy Young Award season. In 28 games with the Houston Astros in 2022, the nine-time All-Star had an 18-4 record to go along with a 3.24 ERA.

Clearly, the Mets are big-time pursuers of Verlander right now. They have the money to work with and after their embarrassing postseason performance, now may be the time to make a major splash. Stay tuned to see if they emerge as winners of the Verlander sweepstakes from here.
