MLB Rumors: Insider Reveals The Favorite To Land Trea Turner

Trea Turner won a World Series playing for the Washington Nationals in the National League East. Now, according to MLB Insider Jon Morosi, he just may wind up back in that division, as the Philadelphia Phillies are now the favorite to land the free agent star shortstop.

"I think right now the Phillies are viewed as the favorite... The fit is there.  They just made it to the World Series, they might be just one piece away," said Morosi.

"Trea Turner is said to have a preference for a team that trains in Florida, of course he's a native Floridian. He's (also) a very close friend of (the Phillies') Bryce Harper (they spent four years together with the Nationals)... As for the Phillies, Trea Turner is their top priority."

Morosi figures the deal Turner lands will have him earning at least $30M per year. He believes the San Francisco Giants would be involved, but that all depends on what happens with their pursuit of Aaron Judge. That has to be the first domino to fall before the Giants can decide whether to seriously try for Turner.

This news about Turner and the Phillies is especially intriguing considering Philly was recently installed as the betting favorite to land one of the other top free agent shortstops.
