MLB Rumors: Insider Has The Latest On Michael Conforto Market

Appearing on MLB Network today, Insider Jon Morosi outlined three teams that are in on free agent outfielder Michael Conforto, and how it could go down.

"I was told by a source yesterday that Conforto is back to full baseball activity... He'd be considered as a fully healthy player for spring training."

After a full year off, and a down year before that in 2021, Conforto's agent Scott Boras will most certainly be looking at a one-year contract, just as he is for another reclamation project client of his, Cody Bellinger.

"A one-year deal for a still relatively-young player [Conforto will be 30 next season] is a really appealing way to do that, and then step out into the free agent market a year from now again."

Seattle Mariners Interested In Lefty Bat Of Conforto

Morosi confirms that Conforto's hometown team, the Seattle Mariners, have interest in bringing in the Redmond High School product, either for DH, or one of the outfield corners (whichever one Teoscar Hernandez doesn't play).

"There's some room there for one more lefty bat, they're pretty right-handed right now."

Houston Astros and New York Yankees Also In On Conforto

Conforto is of interest to the Houston Astros, as well, says Morosi, possibly to shuffle between DH and LF with Yordan Alvarez. He also mentions the New York Yankees as having some interest in Conforto, though that will likely depend on what happens with their primary free agent.

In the end, Morosi feels that once the Aaron Judge sweepstakes is done and he signs somewhere, Conforto's market (though obviously not on the same tier) will become much clearer.
