Marlins Pitcher Rejects Outright; Elects Free Agency

He cleared waivers on Wednesday and was outrighted by the Miami Marlins.

However, pitcher Jake Fishman has rejected the outright and elected free agency.
Fishman only appeared in 11 innings in the majors this past season, posting a 4.09 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and six strikeouts over seven appearances.

The twenty-seven-year-old holds a solid career ERA of 2.97, 1.12 WHIP, and 288 strikeouts over 279 innings in the minors. Of the 180 appearances he's made in the minors, Fishman has started four games and converted 15 saves.

He is a former 30th-round pick by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2016 MLB Draft. Fishman probably won't fetch more than a minor-league deal in free agency.
