Guardians Release Pitcher

He was designated for assignment earlier last week.

Now, the Cleveland Guardians have released pitcher Kirk McCarty.
McCarty made his major league debut this past season, posting a pedestrian 4.54 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and 26 strikeouts over 37.2 innings of work. He made two starts, 11 relief appearances, and held a 4-3 record.

The twenty-seven-year-old is a former seventh-round pick by Cleveland in the 2017 MLB Draft.

McCarty holds a 4.30 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 413 strikeouts over 425 innings of work in the minor leagues. He should be able to find a new team this offseason, but will likely have to settle for a minor league contract with an invite to spring training,
