Giants Non-Tender Three Players

The San Francisco Giants have declined to tender three players contracts for the 2023 season.

The Giants are not tendering pitcher Alex Young a contract for 2023.

Young had a strong rookie season with the Arizona Diamondbacks, posting a 3.56 ERA and 1.19 WHIP over 83.1 innings of work. However, he has not been able to replicate that success since. Although, after being traded to the Giants in July, the twenty-nine-year-old posted a strong 2.39 ERA over 24 appearances with the team. Unfortunately, the team does not believe that he can replicate that.

The Giants have declined to tender pitcher Mauricio Llovera a contract for 2023.

Llovera was up and down the Giants organization all season, ultimately pitching to a 4.41 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 20 strikeouts over 16.1 innings of work in the majors. Unfortunately, the pitcher suffered a Grade 2 right flexor strain, which ended his season.

The Giants have also declined to tender infielder Donovan Walton a contract for the 2023 season.

Walton appeared in a limited fashion for the Giants this past season, registering 12 hits in 78 total plate appearances. The infielder also ended his season on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation.
