Former Top Prospect Elects Free Agency

The former top prospect is joining free agency.

Cleveland Guardians outfielder Oscar Mercado has elected free agency.
Just a few seasons ago, Mercado was one of the most intriguing prospects in the game after slashing .269/.318/.443, with 15 home runs, 54 RBIs, 15 stolen bases and 70 runs scored over his 115 games in the majors.

Unfortunately, the twenty-seven-year-old has not come close to replicating or improving upon those numbers, as he holds a .200/.258/.330 slash line, with 11 home runs, 41 RBIs, 12 stolen bases and 50 runs scored over the last three seasons and 163 games.

There will likely be a team this offseason that will take a shot on Mercado in the hopes that they can revive some of his old potential.
