Chicago Cubs Release Veteran Outfielder

The Chicago Cubs have officially released Jason Heyward. As a result, the veteran outfielder is a free agent.

This is not surprising, as Cubs president Jed Hoyer announced back in August that Heyward would be released this offseason. However, now that it has officially come to fruition, Heyward has the chance to test the open market in hopes of finding a new home.

Heyward should be able to land a minor-league deal at a minimum. He comes with 1,579 games of experience and hit 21 home runs in 2019. However, this season was rough for him, as he had one home run and a low .204 batting average in 48 games with the Cubs.

Alas, we will have to wait and see if Heyward gets signed from here.
